In recent years, Guangdong Province has been vigorously developing new and high-tech industries, and has stepped up the pace of using high-tech to transform traditional industries and promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structures. From 1991 to 1998, the output value of high-tech products in Guangdong increased at an average rate of 50.61%. In 1998, Guangdong’s high-tech industry grew rapidly.
