以工笔人物画和画马见长而著称于中国画坛的许勇,近年来著述了《女性人体美与造型艺术》一书(山东美术出版社1992年),读者将会从这本著作中发现一个新的许勇,一个对西方艺术有深入研究的许勇。中国画人物画历来有着迥然不同于西方造型艺术体系的自已的独特的传统,有自己一整套完全属于中国人特有的造型观念和造型手法。由于中国封建社会的超稳定结构,造成对外部世界的长期的封闭状态,以至使中国人物画的传统观念具有强烈的排它性。由于交通工具的日渐发展,东西方文化的互相交流变得越来越活跃,这本来就是不可避免的历史现象。自印象派以后,西方画家由于发现了东方艺术、不断地更新着西方固有的绘画样式,大胆地冲破三维空间模式在油画中探索着装饰趣味和平面性,以至出现了马奈、高更、马蒂斯等绘画大师对西方传统油画语言的革命性改变。从外来艺术样式中汲取营养这正是一个伟大民族自信心的表现,只有一个健康发展的民族
