董其武,山西河津县人,1899年生,曾任国民党晋陕绥边区中将副总司令、绥远省政府主席,1949年9月率部起义,后历任中国人民解放军绥远省军区副司令员、中国人民志愿军二十三兵团司令员、解放军陆军第六十九军军长、全国政协副主席等职,1955年被授予上将军衔,为中国人民解放事业和社会主义建设做出了很大贡献。1982年,83岁高龄的老将军终于实现了自己加入中国共产党的夙愿。
