Since the 1990s, the problem of sluggish consumption and insufficient domestic demand in China has become a major factor that restricts the long-term and steady growth of the national economy. The imbalance in the distribution of national income in China is the main reason for the sluggish consumption in China. First of all, at the macro level of the national income distribution, China’s disposable income tilts to the government and the corporate sector, resulting in the lack of corresponding income support for the consumer demand in the resident sector. Thirdly, at the micro level of the resident sector, income distribution among different groups is uneven, As a result, the average household consumption tended to decline. In view of the negative impact on the consumption caused by unbalanced income distribution, the article finally put forward relevant policy suggestions.
