学英语首先要过的是单词关，但背单词是一件特别乏味、单调的事情，所以背单词也成为基础较差学生极为头痛的事情。许多专家建议单词要在句子中背，句子应在段落中记，而段落要放在文章里想，就是强调不应该孤立背单词，而要把它们放在情境中去记忆。笔者偶然在一次欣赏经典英文电影的同时，产生了一个想法：我们为何不把单词、短语放在电影台词中背呢？在教学中我努力挖掘，发现有很多重要的单词、短语，都能在经典电影中找到。
现以高中英语一些重要单词、短语为例，归纳整理如下：
1.survive
If Aragorn survives this war, you will still be parted. (the Lord of the Rings)
如果Aragorn 能在这场战争中幸存下来，你们两个将来还会被分开。（《指环王》）
2.would rather
I’d rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone. (the Lord of the Rings)
我宁愿和你共同度过这一生，也不愿孤独地面对这漫长的岁月。（《指环王》）
3.for example
The rifle is the first weapon you learn how to use; the knife, for example, is the last thing you learn. (Leon)
來复枪是你要学习使用的第一种武器，再比如说小刀则是你最后要学的武器。（《这个杀手不太冷》）
4.be supposed to do
I was supposed to die in the field with honor. That was my destiny. (Forrest Gump)
我应该光荣地死在战场上，那才是我的命运。（《阿甘正传》）
5.worth
Land is the only thing in the world worth working for, worth fighting for, worth dying for, because it’s the only thing that lasts. (Gone with the Wind)
土地是这个世界上唯一值得为之工作、为之奋斗、为之牺牲的东西。因为它是唯一永恒的东西。（《飘》）
6.make a choice
Morpheus believes in you. He believes it so blindly that he’s going to sacrifice his life to save yours. You’re going to have to make a choice. (The Matrix)
