Current educational reforms in many countries encompass increasing freedom of parental choice,which is seen as a stimulus improvement and quality control of schools.Raising parents’voice in the choices of a school for their child is said to enhance the role market mechanism in educational system.In this paper,the author will focus on the relative importance of several reasons for parent choice in the Netherlands.Moreover,the relatedness between parental choices and parents’social background are discussed.
