使用临时地震台网对西隆高原下面上地幔Pn波速度进行了研究。在此研究中,我们利用了多对台站记录到的浅源远震(M>3.0)的Pn到时,这些台站相对于给定的震中的方位角之差在2°范围内。由于这个方法基于相对走时差,所以计算与发震时刻和定位误差无关。我们发现Pn平均速度是8.57公里/秒,高于印度次大陆其它地区的地幔Pn平均速度8.13公里/秒。可以把观测到的Pn速度归咎于此高原下存在着高密度物质。
Pn wave velocities of the upper mantle beneath the Shilong plateau were studied using a temporary seismic network. In this study, we used Pn of shallow source teleseismic (M> 3.0) recorded by multiple pairs of stations to arrive at a difference of 2 ° in azimuth with respect to a given epicenter. Since this method is based on the relative travel time difference, the calculation is independent of the launch time and positioning error. We found that the average Pn velocity was 8.57 km / s, which was higher than the average Pn velocity of 8.13 km / s in the rest of the Indian subcontinent. The observed Pn velocity can be attributed to the presence of high-density material beneath this plateau.
