通识教育(General Education),在西方国家特别是美国的一些高校(如哈佛大学)已实施多年并积累了丰富的经验,但在中国却是20世纪90年代才开始重视、本世纪初方开始实施的新理念。因此,我国高校实施通识教育需借鉴国外大学(尤其是哈佛大学)的经验。复旦大学作为中国的重点大学,在吸收哈佛等国际重点大学通识教育经验的基础上开设了核心课程,实行“模块固定、学分必修、课程选修”的模式。但在现行通识教育的背景下,大学英语是否应进入核心课程,而且如何在大学英语教学中体现通识教育的精神是我们重点研究的课题。
General Education has been practiced in western countries, especially in the United States (such as Harvard University) for many years and has accumulated rich experience. However, in China, it started to pay attention in the 1990s and started early in this century The implementation of the new concept. Therefore, the implementation of general education in Chinese colleges and universities needs the experience of foreign universities (especially Harvard University). As a key university in China, Fudan University has set up the core curriculum on the basis of absorbing the general education experience of international key universities such as Harvard and practiced the mode of “Module Fixed, Credit Required, and Elective Courses”. However, in the current context of general education, whether college English should enter the core curriculum and how to embody the spirit of general education in college English teaching are the topics that we focus on.
