1985年3月1日至6日,中国考古学会第五次年会在北京召开,我有幸参加了这次盛会。夏鼐先生作为学会理事长,在年会开幕式上发表了题为《考古工作者需要有献身精神》的重要讲话,号召大家继承和发扬优良传统,“在马克思列宁主义、毛泽东思想的指导下,发扬实事求是的优良学风”;“一心一意为了提高本学科的水平,而不要计较个人的经济利益”;“保持我们田野工作的好传统,有‘不怕苦’的精神”;“如果我们想把我国考古学的水平提高到新的高度,这便需要我们有献身的精神”。先生的这一席话得到与会代表的热烈赞同,我作为先生的晚辈
From March 1 to March 6, 1985, the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Chinese Archeology Society was held in Beijing. I was honored to attend this grand occasion. As president of the Institute, Mr. Xia Xun delivered an important speech entitled “Archaeologists Need Dedication” at the opening ceremony of the annual meeting, urging everyone to inherit and carry forward fine traditions. “In the guidance of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought Under the principle of seeking truth from facts, ”and“ wholeheartedly in order to improve the level of this subject, not to care about personal economic interests ”;“ to maintain our good tradition of field work, there is ”no fear of bitterness“; ”If we want to raise the level of our archeology to a new height, it will require our dedication."
