为了贯彻落实习近平总书记关于文艺创作的讲话精神,运用造型艺术形式图写中华民族五千年文明历史,彰显中华民族的价值观念、文化精神和审美追求,讲好中国故事,传播中华优秀传统文化,共建中华民族共有的精神家园。2016年11月,经中宣部批准,由中国文联、财政部、文化部共同主办,中国美协承办的“中华文明历史题材美术创作工程”在广大美术家的共同参与和努力下,历经5年时间的认真创作、精心打磨,如期完成。2016年11月20日,由146件(幅)作品构成的“中华史诗美术大展”在中国国家博物馆盛大启幕。
