In 2011, Peking University and the Communist Youth League Guangdong Provincial Party Committee jointly decided to select 100 students from more than 26 million new-generation migrant workers to attend Peking University. Upon graduation, they will be awarded an undergraduate diploma with a recognized diploma. Yao Chunmei, a migrant female worker from Anhui, has been selected as one of the 100 lucky ones. Yao Chunmei, who dropped out of school early in his career, started from the bottom of the factory and first worked as a worker on the assembly line. Afterward, he worked as head of team leader, head of a department, and director of procurement until Peking University was chosen. Her experience is a true portrayal of hundreds of thousands of working girls; although her story is ordinary, she has faithfully recorded the footsteps of a rural sister who struggled in the city.
