湖南宝山铜矿是矽卡岩型铜铋铜钨矿床,主要矿石矿物有黄铜矿、辉铜矿、辉钼矿、辉铋矿、黄铁矿等。选厂采用部分混合—优先浮选流程回收铜精矿、钼精矿、硫精矿。原设计的铜钼混合粗选作业中,只采用煤油作捕收剂,铜的回收率低(<50%);原设计的铜钼分离作业中,只采用大量Na_2S作抑制剂,钼精矿的产品长期达不到一级品(含Mo 47%),影响企业经济效益的提高。
