陈东是北宋末年和南宋初年抗金爱国运动中的一位杰出的学生领袖。他多次领导群众进行抗金斗争,对当时的政局产生极大的影响。一陈东,字少阳,丹阳(今江苏省)人,“自少尚气节,有愤世嫉邪之志”。宋徽宗即位第二年,他进太学读书。这时的北宋已经病入膏盲,加上蔡京、王黼、童贯、朱励等乱臣贼子的肆虐,政治更加黑暗腐朽。陈东看到这种情况,他大声疾呼,痛陈时弊。
