Objective To observe the clinical effect of low dose ketamine compound caudal block in infantile perianal abscess. Methods Forty infants aged 3 months to 3 years old were randomly divided into two groups: group Ⅰ (control group), conventional ketamine group, group Ⅱ (experimental group), ketamine + caudal block group. Results The HR and respiration of group Ⅱ were more stable than those of group Ⅰ, and the anesthetic effect was better than group Ⅰ. The recovery time was shorter in group Ⅱ than in group Ⅰ, and there was less adverse reaction in recovery phase. Conclusions The low dose ketamine compound caudal block is used in the treatment of perianal abscess in infants and young children. The anesthetic effect is exact and reliable. It has low physiological disturbance to infants and young children and high safety.
