1937年9月3日,八路军第一二○师师长贺龙率领师部、第三五八旅、第三五九旅及教导团等部队8200余人.以吕梁及其支脉管涔山为中心开辟晋绥抗日根据地。伴随着八路军第一二○师的前进步伐.晋绥抗日根据地人民军工在号称“兵器仓库”的晋绥大地上艰苦创业.书写了人民军工操戈吕梁的恢弘篇章。
