Recently, I translated a piece of “modern furniture” while reading. During the course of reading and translating, there was a new understanding of the influence of the “modernism” movement in the mid-19th century to the 20th century on the furniture and the promotion of new furniture. Illustrated in the book “Modern Furniture”: The “Industrial Revolution” of the 19th century swept through the European and American continents, creating a prerequisite for furniture product economy and mass production. In the past that tedious, piling up, over the decoration of the furniture can not satisfy the “consumer society” needs. In general, people are disgusted with the gradual emergence of emotions of antique furniture (upright, Rococo, Queen Victoria, etc.), and the emergence of modernist architecture and other factors have forced the style of furniture to be revolutionized. At that time, some architects such as Wright, Corbusier, Groebis, Meath and others all set concrete examples for modern furniture design and other industrial art practices.
