道路交通事故预防的社会化,包括两个方面的含义:一是职能部门抓好业务规划、指导,然后让各行各业都参与到事故预防工作中来,真正形成“人人关心交通安全,大家参与预防事故”的局面;二是预防手段的社会化。除了公安机关通常使用的手段外,还可以发动群众,使用多种办法来预防事故。四川省自贡市荣县公安局交警大队在当地党委、政府的大力支持下,循着“摸清底数、找准问题 制定措施、落实责任、讲究方法、注重效果”的思路,针对幼儿园接送车、农村运尸车、残疾人三轮车、村社道路事故防范等方面存在的问题,发动县、乡（镇）、村、社,以及纪检、监察、交通、城管、教育等单位干部群众,动员了几百倍于交警警力的人员,参与到事故预防工作中来,解决了许多久拖不决的老大难问题。他们的做法可以给各地预防事故工作有益的启迪。
