In order to improve the accuracy and productivity of a cylindrical grinder, the forces acting on the workpiece and the fixture must be eliminated or greatly reduced. Experiments have shown that, for example, a 24.5 mm diameter and 255 mm long workpiece, fixed to the thimble, is loaded with 30 kg at the midpoint of the workpiece and offsets from 34 to 0.3 μm offset by 98.5% of the external load.
