全国美国文学研究会理事会于1982年11月3日至7日在济南召开。这次会议是在党的十二大刚刚胜利闭幕不久召开的。与会同志根据党的十二大的精神,回顾了第一届年会以来美国文学研究工作的进展,交流了对现代美国文学研究的情况,明确了当前美国文学研究工作的目标和重点,并就如何开创美国文学研究工作的新局面交换了意见。中国社会科学院青少年研究所的同志,到会介绍了部分大学生对阅读外国文学作品的反映的典型调查,这些调查情况,使与会同志受到了鼓舞。会议着重讨论了改进会刊编辑出版工作的措施。决定将《美国文学丛刊》改名《美国文学》,1983年起充实内容,增加栏目,提高质量,继续由新华书店扩大发行。同时,还相应成立了 The National Council of American Literature Council was held in Jinan from November 3 to November 7, 1982.
