Inhibitors of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) are another family of apoptosis-inhibiting proteins discovered after the Bcl-2 family of proteins. They were first found in baculoviruses and inhibited the induction of cells by viral infection Apoptosis, binding and inhibiting caspases, regulating the cell cycle and regulating the death receptor-mediated signal transduction and other multi-biological activity. This review summarizes recent advances in the relationship between structure and function of IAPs and the significance of IAPs expression in tumors.
