According to “EDN” Volume 30 Issue 9, 1985 An NCS controller introduced by Micom Systems is a communication network of PAD (packet assembly / disassembly) devices using a Micro800 / X.25 concentrator that provides central monitoring and control devices . The system controls the operation of the remote communication PAD and collects statistical information about channel usage and efficiency. Centralized network management operations include fault finding and information broadcasting. Manufacturers assert that by continuously monitoring each PAD controller, the system can often foretell a pending failure before business interruption. The device’s small controller manages 50 PADs and is priced at £ 15,500. The medium-sized controller is capable of supporting 150 PADs and costs £ 16,850.
