日月食是一种有规律的对地球上天气气候、大气环流与洪水产生重大影响的自然现象. 日月食发生规律与洪水的变化规律有一定的对应性和历史的相似性. 日月食代码系指代表日月食对洪水的影响程度的量化指标,它是在排列各影响因素状况的基础上引用多元回归方法并施以影响权重综合计算出的预测洪水的因子. 利用日月食代码建立的模型可以实现对超常洪水的定量预测. 由于日月食的类别、食分不同,发生时间和所经过的地理位置不同,代码值存在很大差异,影响到洪水形成的量级、峰现时间亦有不同,由此建立的预测模型也就有很大区别. 根据这种预测方法对 1998 年大洪水进行预测,预见期达 3 个月到半年或更长.
