Language is the most important product and tool of human cognitive activity, which is determined by the commonness of human thinking. However, any thinking is inseparable from the emotional factors involved and influence. Human emotion is rich and abstract, in order to accurately understand and vividly express, people often make it concrete and categorized, that is metaphorical. This article analyzes the similarities and differences of thinking in the process of conceptualization of the four basic human emotions (joy, anger, sadness, and obesity) in English and Chinese from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. In order to illustrate the emotional metaphor of English and Chinese by different cultural backgrounds, social customs, will show different cultural characteristics.
