《材料保护》杂志于1995年10月20至24日在浙江省建德市召开了第三届编辑委员会第二次会议,会议听取并审议了材料保护杂志社1993～1994年工作报告和1995～2005年发展建议,讨论了《材料保护》杂志近期工作,达到了预期目的,圆满完成了任务.会议认为,1993年长岛会议规定的“提高杂志质量,实现与国际标准开本接轨,建立材料保护杂志社”三大任务已全面完成.《材料保护》杂志发展的学术论文,已广为国内外文摘和数据库所收录,论文发表后所产生的年均社会效益已达2.4亿元人民币以上,为国家经济建设和行业的技术进步作出了显著贡献.1995年杂志采用国际标准开本后,又使印刷质量接近国际先进水平,与此同时,杂志顺应市场经济规律,使自身的经济效益也得到明显提高,做到了收支平衡,略有盈余,为杂志今后的发展打下了坚实的基础.杂志的内容质量、印刷质量和经济运行质量,在10年中都得到持续、稳定提高的状况,在国内科技期刊中实属罕见.
