无论是书写中国百余年的话剧史,还是探讨中国当代话剧的发展规律、艺术水准、形态样式等,北京、上海都是无法忽略的两个地理坐标。作为中国话剧艺术的重镇,京沪两地既肩负着传承、推广、捍卫话剧艺术的责任,又在以各自的方式完成着话剧艺术从传统到现代、从封闭到开放、从“舶来品”到本土化、民族化的嬗变,锻铸着各自的文化品格和探索方向。进入新时期以来,有关京沪两地话剧的比较、争论从未间断,两地之间的演出交流也在以各种方式进行着,但是更多的比较还是集中在基于地域文化不同而造成的
