桥梁的总发展趋势可以概括为几句话:结构长大化、设计自动化、施工机械化、材料高强化。为此,结构工程师们在以下领域下功夫:(1)结构型式合理化、艺术化,尤其在结构型式与环境协调,并保护生态平衡方面作了不少研究;(2)计算技术自动化、快速化;(3)施工机械大型化,施工工艺简单化,施工方法多样化,并力求安全、快捷;(4)建桥材料高强化,包括钢材高强化,钢材品种多样化,高强混凝土、高流动混凝土、轻质混凝土的研究;此外,还在测试技术、控制技术、防护技术方面作了较多研究。
