Matt Fowler, a middle-aged doctor practicing in Maine, has been living a simple and ordinary life for many years after marrying Ruth, the music teacher’s wife. The film won the award because of two reasons: First, the subject involves the drawbacks of US law. When the law can not do justice, people may take the risk. Second, the style of the film is different. The actors’ performances are real and natural, the tempo of the story is soothing, and the photography of the film is also simple and simple, quite a bit of the charm of neo-realism.
