扬中市农业部门引进推广上海生产的沪嘉J-2BD-10型水稻水直播机,进行机械水直播种稻的试验研究。1992年引进,1994年开始在建新村农场示范种植.当年获得实产535kg的好收成。1996年进一步扩大示范,推广面积达1.05万亩,平均理论产量642.6kg,与大面积移栽稻接近。1995～1996年在建新村和治安村的观光农业示范区内,分别建立了百亩连片机械水直播稻高产示范方,进行攻关研究。1995年建新示范方水直播稻理论产量772.
