末次研究所是近代日本设置在北京的一个情报机构,为日本侵华提供情报服务。日本末次研究所情报资料(简称“末次资料”),就是末次研究所于1912年至1940年所收集的中文、英文和日文报纸的剪报资料汇编。由于时间跨度长、选材范围广,“末次资料”具有数量庞大、主题明确、内容丰富,以及选题连贯严谨、观点兼收并蓄的特点,是我国孤本珍贵文献。在新闻史研究的视野下,“末次资料”具有“以报证史”和“以报求理”的双重文献价值。
