积极正确地引导宗教与社会主义相适应,是我们宗教工作的根本方向和目的。实践证明,我国的几大宗教只有坚持走与社会主义相适应的道路,才有可能符合社会历史的进步与发展。在我们这样一个实行政教分离的社会主义国家里,在对宗教的“引导”过程中应当坚持什么样的指导思想?这既是一个理论问题,也是一个实践的问题。自1962年李维汉提出“宗教可以为社会主义服务①”观点,到1982年他正式向中央提出“引导宗教与社会主义相适应②”的建议后,党和国家的主要领导对这一命题都有不少的重要论述。1993年11月7日江泽民同志在第18次全国统战工作会议上对“引导宗 Actively and correctly guiding religion to conform with socialism is the fundamental direction and purpose of our religious work.
