山东省沂源县发现一奇特溶洞群。这批兼南、北方洞穴之奇观,具丰富堆积物和史前遗迹的溶洞群,是该县文化局旅游办公室在有关单位的密切配合下,经过近6年的详细勘查发现的。这批溶洞现正由村镇进行修整,有的已对游人开放,倍受参观者青睐。过去认为,由于地质构造上的原因,山东地区石灰岩溶洞不甚发育。从最近的调查表明:山东沂蒙山区也有发育良好的洞穴,是研究第四纪沉积物、古人类与古文化的重要地区之一,而且,经过开发,将成为一处游览胜地。土门镇黄崖村的千人洞,因能容纳千人而故名。多年前,洞中9米多厚的堆积物出土过若干旧石器和一批化石,另外可见两层灰烬,当为晚期人类居址。以千人洞为中心,5公里为半径的范围内,已知溶洞不下30个。
