On January 8, 2003, three societies, namely, International Day for Disaster Reduction, Shaanxi Disaster Reduction Association, Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Shaanxi Meteorological Society jointly held a symposium on “Reducing floods and droughts - paying attention to sustainable development” meeting.
