图式结合是解决小学生思维的形象性与数学知识抽象性之间矛盾的需要,成为低年级数学教材编排的重要特征之一。教学中,教师要准确领悟图式结合的编辑意图,系统考察图式之间关系,有目的地挖掘、感知静态插图中蕴含的思维材料,以帮助学生理解抽象算式中的数学关系,促进学生思维能力的发展。如“九义”六年制第一册49页有这样教学内容:
