由山东省社会科学院、淄博市社联、齐鲁石化公司、山东考古研究所、临淄区政府联合举办的“《管子》与齐文化国际学术讨论会”于1989年10月14日至18日在临淄召开。来自大陆14个省市、台湾省和日本的高校、科研机构、考古文物、新闻出版、方志、博物等方面的学者计105人出席了会议。中共山东省委、省人民政府,淄博市各有关单位的领导出席了大会的开幕式和闭幕式。提交大会的论文85篇、专著7部。周谷城副委员长电贺大会说:“古齐文化,内容丰富;《管子》一书,尤其突出;国际讨论,今日举行;更可昌明,文化艺术。”杨向奎、张岱年、徐汉昌、李勉、王更生、李克等中外学者均给大会发来贺电或贺信。大会的中心议题是:管子学、齐文化及其在中国传统文化中的历史地位和现代意义。
