This patent describes a method of leaching arsenic-bearing uranium ore with sulfuric acid and recovering uranium from the leachate under oxidizing conditions. The leachate first comes in contact with hydrogen sulphide and precipitates arsenic pentasulphide. After filtration, the pH of the arsenic-free filtrate was adjusted to greater than 1.0 and the redox potential was adjusted from -50 mV to +250 mV followed by the chelate-forming
