Interleukin-8 (IL-8), a new class of chemotactic cytokines (now known as chemotactic factors). Such factors activate white blood cells and are widely studied because of their magical mediators in the inflammatory process. Based on the structure of the first two of the four conserved cysteines, these cytokines can be divided into two subfamilies: the two cysteines are separated by one amino acid as the CXC chemotactic factor, Adjacent to arrange for the CC chemical factor. The former mainly acts on neutrophils, while the latter is more active and can activate monocytes, eosinophils, basophils and even lymphocytes. The genes for the two subfamilies were determined to be on separate chromosomes, with CXC on chromosome 4 and CC on chromosome 17.
