As the most important and best known work by Saclay, the novel “Vanity Fair” reveals the glitz and hypocrisy of nineteenth-century British upper classes, portraying all kinds of characters vividly, as if the readers were in their own right. Because of the critical realism it possesses, it has been repeatedly filmed on the screen as a drama. However, not all the adaptations are so satisfying and some are even devastating. It is true that for a literary work, the interpretation of each reader may be different, adaptation of film and television is also a re-creation, adapters can be combined with the existing background of some of the contents of a new interpretation, but The original author’s writing should not be forgotten, and the audience’s right to know should also be respected.
