Esso (China), a subsidiary of Exxon, is currently working with CNPC and Japan’s Mitsubishi Corporation on the economic viability of building a natural gas pipeline. The pipeline started in Turkmenistan, crossing Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China. In accordance with Exxon’s decision, the purpose of this pipeline study is to seek exploration and development opportunities in China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and other former Soviet republics.
