There are significant differences in serological responses to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in different patients. The authors have suggested that the genes that detect complement components play an important role in determining susceptibility to HIV infection. In support of this hypothesis, the authors conducted a major histocompatibility complex in 26 HIV-positive patients with persistent generalized lymphadenopathy and 72 HIV-negative but HIV-at-risk homosexuals and 185 controls Ⅲ class of genes (C_4 and Bf) detection.
