Dunne wrote an excellent essay that provided many suggestions about the most expensive material consumption at a concentrator. As he pointed out, the selection and quality control of the grinding media plays an important role in the success of the concentrator. Due to the economic importance of this topic, I think there are some important factors that are relevant to the determination of media size that deserve further comment. Dunn mentions a slightly simplified version of the Azzaroni formula (1981) and states that it has been successfully applied to Henderson semi-autogenous mills and Climax ball mills .
