朱自清先生1925年赴北京清华大学任中国文学系教授之前,曾在江浙一带教过五年中学。1923年春,他受聘在温州十中教初二国文时,班上不少学生对写作缺乏兴趣。为了激发学生的写作热情,提高他们的写作能力,朱先生不仅精心设计作文命题,采用多种行之有效的方法来评改作文,而且在作文记分方法上也煞费了苦心。他别出心裁地让班上的每个学生把作文薄的第一页都空下来,正面由学生自己把本学期的作文题目依次写下,并注明起讫页码,列出一份目录,便于师生、家长检阅;反面则由他记分数,方法很别致:他规定作文簿第一页反面纵向第一行的首格代表九十到一百分,次格八十分到九十分……每格十分,依次下推。如果谁第一篇作文得八十五分,他就用笔在横向第一行的次格正中点一点;第二篇得九十三
Before he went to Tsinghua University in Beijing in 1925 as a professor of Chinese literature, Mr. Zhu Ziqing taught in five years of high school in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. In the spring of 1923, when he was hired in Wenzhou during the tenth and early Chinese teaching days, many students in the class were not interested in writing. In order to stimulate the students’ enthusiasm for writing and improve their writing skills, Mr. Zhu not only carefully designed composition propositions, but also adopted many effective methods to evaluate writing compositions, and he also took pains to write essay scoring methods. He ingenuity allowed every student in the class to leave the first page of the composition book empty. Positively, the students themselves wrote the title of the essay in this semester in sequence, and noted the title page, and listed a directory for teachers and students. Parents review; on the other hand, scores are scored on the opposite side. The method is very unique: he specifies that the first line of the first page of the back page of the composition book represents the first line of 90 to 100, and the line of 80 to 90... each. The grid is very depressing. If one of the first essays scored 85 points, he would use the pen to point a little in the middle of the horizontal first line;
