乌鳢俗称才鱼,体呈灰黑色,属肉食性凶猛鱼类,贪食,并有自相残杀的习性。体长10cm以内的幼鱼,主要以桡足类、枝角类、水生昆虫、仔鱼、小虾为食;成鱼则以各种小型野杂鱼为猎取对象。乌鳢一般生活水草丛生的静水或微流水水域,其适应强,生长速度快,当年鱼种可长到0.5—1公斤。是一种名贵的淡水鱼类,在医学上有滋补健身,促进人体生肌的功能。在国际、国内市场十分畅销。如何发展乌鳢生产,增加名贵鱼品种,满足市场和出口需要,是一个值得研究的课题。本试验属技术开发项目,于1985年由农业部水产司下达给华容县水产局具体组
