Objective To investigate the effect of smoking on the prognosis of patients with coronary heart disease after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods A total of 689 patients with smoking-induced coronary heart disease (CHD) were enrolled and divided into two groups according to their smoking status: postoperative smoking cessation (n = 417) and smoking group (n = 272). Follow-up of major adverse cardiac events. Results The average follow-up was 18 months. The incidence of non-fatal myocardial infarction was higher in the smoker group than in the postoperative smoking cessation group (4.78% vs 1.44%, P <0.05). Conclusions Smoking in patients with coronary heart disease after PCI is one of the risk factors of non-fatal myocardial infarction.
