罗河同志在参加中国大百科土木工程卷编写工作时,根据大百科的使命和作用,赞同在各卷卷首应当有一篇本学科的全面介绍,用比较浅显的文字将其主要内容说明清楚,使广大读者,尤其是中学水平的读者,看了之后,在考虑工作或进一步学习深造时心中有数;也可使很多非专业人员迅速了解本学科的基本内容,以利于其所参与的工作。这样做就可更好地发挥大百科向广大读者群众传播知识和推动四化建设的作用。《现代土木工程》是罗河同志为这一目标写的一篇文章。我们认为由于科学技术的不断发展,老学科逐渐扩大分化,新学科新专业应运产生,很有必要在适当历史阶段,将新老学科的内容向广大读者作适当介绍。今《现代土木工程》这篇文章基本上符合这一要求,所以把它刊登在学报里。
When Comrade Luohe participated in the preparation of the Chinese Civil Encyclopedia civil engineering project, according to the encyclopedia’s mission and role, he agreed that there should be a comprehensive introduction of the subject at the beginning of each volume, and the main contents should be clearly explained with relatively simple texts. Readers of the general public, especially those at the secondary school level, have a good idea when considering work or further studies; they also enable many non-professionals to quickly understand the basic content of the subject, so as to facilitate their participation in the work. In doing so, we can better play the role of Encyclopedia in spreading knowledge to the masses of readers and promoting the construction of the four modernizations. “Modern Civil Engineering” is an article written by Comrade Luo He for this purpose. We believe that due to the continuous development of science and technology, old disciplines gradually expand and differentiate, and new disciplines and new professions should come into being. It is necessary to appropriately introduce the content of new and old subjects to readers at appropriate historical stages. The article “Modern Civil Engineering” basically meets this requirement, so it is published in the journal.
