本世纪20年代,实业先驱、民族精英范旭东、侯德榜先生历尽艰辛创办永利碱厂,并以“红三角”牌纯碱勇性挫洋商,夺标费城,名扬世界,为中华民族洗辱争光。 天津碱厂的创始人范旭东先生逝世时,毛泽东亲笔写了:“工业先导功在中华”的挽联,并曾赞誉他是:“中国现代化学工业的开拓者”！ 建国后,尤其是改革开放以来天碱人以昂扬饱满的精神,抓住机遇,锐意改革,使天碱的纯碱产量由1949年的4万吨猛增到现在的60多万吨,成为全国500家国营大中型企业中的强大一员。
