The 1989 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was presented to Professor Sidney Altman of the Department of Biology, Yale University in the United States, and Professor Thomas Robert Cech of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Colorado in recognition of their research on “catalytic Performance. ”Altman, born in Canada in 1939, graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States, later received a doctorate from the University of Colorado and taught at Yale after 1971. Cech was born in 1947 , Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, postdoctoral research at MIT, and post-1978 at the University of Colorado.
