1924年,湖南发生大洪灾,社会各界掀起抗洪救援运动。湘籍寓沪书画家发起书画助赈展览会,筹集救灾资金,取得可观收益。1924—1926年湘赈书画展览会是近代书画助赈活动由初兴走向成熟的重要标志之一,作为近代新型的慈善方式,书画助赈展览会不仅有利于书画助赈资金的集中化、透明化,保证书画界慈善活动的有序化,而且将社会慈善活动、商业活动以及美术的普及与研究融为一体,推动慈善风尚的养成,取得多重社会效益,充盈中国慈善文化。
In 1924, there was a flood in Hunan and various sectors of the community set off a flood-relief campaign. Hunan-Shanghai-Shanghai painting and calligraphy painters initiated the calligraphy and painting relief aid exhibition to raise relief funds and made considerable gains. 1924-1926 Hunan Relief Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition is one of the most important symbols of modern calligraphy and painting relief activities from early Qing to maturity. As a new type of charity in modern times, calligraphy and painting relief-aid exhibition is not only conducive to the centralization and transparency of calligraphy and painting relief funds It will ensure the orderly charity activities in the painting and calligraphy industry. It will also integrate the social charity activities, commercial activities and the popularization of fine arts with the research to promote the development of a philanthropic style, achieve multiple social benefits and enrich the Chinese philanthropic culture.
