The potential human health effects of lead on industrial processes and vehicle exhaust emissions have drawn increasing attention. Some studies show that the daily lead concentration in the atmosphere of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is similar to that of some European and American cities. It has been reported in the literature that infants and young children tend to have higher intestinal absorption of lead than adults. Based on the results of animal studies, it is suggested that Pb may be delivered to infants through breast milk.
