Glucose oxidase is extracted from the microorganism Aspergillus niger. It is used in industrial analysis, medical diagnostics and enzyme electrode preparation. In order to improve its thermal stability and protease resistance, the modification of glucose oxidase was carried out. Bovine serum albumin active ester method has been used for the modification of small molecule peptides, with appropriate improvements, applied to the modification of glucose oxidase. Due to the avoidance of the use of lively small molecule crosslinkers (eg, glutaraldehyde), satisfactory results have been obtained, with both the rate of recovery of the enzyme activity and the binding rate close to 100%. Studies on the properties of modified glucose oxidase indicate that about 2 to 3 bovine serum albumin molecules are attached per glucose oxidase molecule under experimental conditions.
