爆發辛亥革命而使之成功的武昌起義,以前不少的書都忽略了當時一個革命組織——文學社的功績。特別是在蒋介石反動統治時更有意蒙混了這一次起義的歷史事實真相,有‘許多史冊往往只很簡略地寫一點由工程營熊秉坤發難就完事,有的甚至不合事實地說東京同盟會總部派什麽法國武官到武昌鼓動新軍起義’。(本書李六如序)把當時起義有功的文學社和共進會抹煞得一字不提。本書主要就是‘詳述一九一一年武昌起義的經過,及文學社在武昌起義中所起的作用’。(本書内容提要) 本書主要部分就是現用作書名的一整篇紀實,書後附有在武昌起義前夕犠牲的劉復基、彭楚藩、楊洪勝三烈士的事略(附照片)。本書有三點是值得提出來的,即

There are three points in this book worth mentioning, namely
